Blown Heater Core, Bad Hose, Etc?

The heater core is leaking badly. You are not seeing it in the car because it's probably leaking outside through the drain for A/C water

1. can a car run without having a heater core or bypassing the intake hose without passing to the heater core?

Yes it can. That's what it does most of the time during warm and hot seasons while the heater is OFF

2. thank you for 2000 sunfire pontiac. heater core leak?

your quiet welcome and if you run into any other problems, dont hessitate to call on us. we will all see if we can help you

3. replace heater core 96 blazer?

While you are at it, you might also repair the cause of the heater core leaking......lack of cooling system maintenance, like flushes and coolant renewals which prevent corrosion in aluminum parts like your heater core, radiator and intake manifold. Is your antifreeze brown?

4. My heater core has been replaced 2 times already and I think it needs to be replaced again, whats the problem?

u should not have to change them that many times. are u sure its the heater core? whats it doing? if its the heater core then u will have water in your floorboards. and your heater core is only a couple of bolts , very easy to fix. it should be on the wall panel at the back, like under your hood but behind your dash, thats the best way i know how to explain it, however if u are just having problems with the car overheating, then it could be your thermostat, which is also very easy to replace yourself. but keep in mind that most cars that overheat usually even one time will end up with a blown head gasket, to find out if that is the problem check your oil cap , if there is milky substance on it then u have a bigger problem on your hands and unless u know how to do it yourself then u will be better off getting another car

5. How do I figure out what hoses I need to bypass my heater core in my Eclpise GT?

you go to youre nearest advanced auto or pep boys and ask them

6. How do you change the heater core in a '90 Toyota Camry DX?

I've never removed one from a Toyota, but usually there is a heater box below the dash on the passenger side, where the heater core is located. You would first disconnect the inlet and outlet hoses on the opposite side of the firewall (under the hood) before you get started. On some cars you have to remove the whole heater box. You should get a $20 service manual for your car so you do not break other components upon removal. The heater box has rods to the vent switches and usually a plug that's hooked up to the blower motor that's in the heater box. It is not a difficult opperation, but you have to be very gentle with the new heater core upon installation, because a slight bump to either inlet or outlet port could cause another leak to the new core, and you will notice it after it's all assembled and filled with fluid!

7. Would a leaky heater core cause pools of antifreeze on the driveway?

You should top of the fluid to reduce the risk of damage to your car. Also, a faulty water pump could cause this leak

8. The hoses to the heater core r not hot so how do u get the air out of the system?

Park the car on a steep incline with the front pointing up. start it, and add fluid when it gets warm

9. No heat and was wondering what options I have to check before tackling the heater core?

I have seen thermostats and other cooling system components replaced and the system not "refilled" properly causing an air lock at the heater core, that should be investigated as well. A symptom of this is "did have a little heat and now none" after replacements parts installed.

10. How can I know if the heater core if bad?

It could be the heater resistor, check this first

11. Are there any problems from bypassing the heater core?

I think you are more concerned about the reliability of the car now and not the fact (which you surely know) that you will have no heat in your car... No problems at all. Heater core is really just a luxury feature and has no effect on the cooling system if you were to shorten the distance so as not to include the heater core. Hope it is warm where you are!!

Impala No Heat at Idle
It turns out the problem is pretty common with 3.5L Impalas. For some reason these engines lose coolant. Some blame is placed on head gaskets, some blame Dex-Cool. What ever the cause, refilling via the overflow jug can leave an air pocket in the cooling system. The cure is to fill via the pressure cap right to the top. Recheck the level after several heat/cool cycles. Then never let the overflow jug get emptyI have 2006 impala that randomly will blow cold air at idle. Sometimes if I stop at redlight the heater will blow cold air. If I get the engine above idle by reving the engine to about 1K rpm it starts to blow warm again. The temp gauge remains at the normal spot on the gauge. The radiator and expansion tank are at the correct levels.·OTHER ANSWER:I have 2006 impala that randomly will blow cold air at idle.
